Full licence and partial licence

Banks may apply for a partial licence to conduct a limited subset of activities listed in Annex 1 to the Capital Requirements Directive, rather than obtaining a full bank licence. To qualify for a partial licence, institutions must include inviting deposits and other repayable funds, as well as granting credits on their own account, among their intended activities. Partially licensed institutions can subsequently apply for additional activities to expand towards a full licence.
