Guidelines for Investment Advisers

SEBI requires registered Investment Advisers to segregate advisory and distribution activities at the client level, prohibiting existing clients from receiving both services within the same group or family. Advisers must cap fees at 2.5 percent of Assets under Advice or INR 1,25,000 annually, and individual advisers reaching 150 clients must apply for non-individual registration. Compliance with segregation, agreement, and fee measures is mandated by April 1, 2021, while record-keeping, risk profiling, and website disclosure requirements must be met by January 1, 2021.
