These guidelines establish supervisory practices for competent authorities to prevent and detect market abuse under the Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation. They require authorities to apply a risk-based approach, maintain adequate resources, and conduct data-driven monitoring of crypto-asset service providers and other market participants. Competent authorities must notify ESMA of their compliance status within two months of publication and follow specific procedures for analyzing suspected market abuse reports and coordinating cross-border investigations.
