Health Insurance Authorisation Requirements in the Netherlands

Entities wishing to provide health insurance services in the Netherlands must obtain authorisation from De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) and register with the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa). DNB consults the NZa regarding the expertise and trustworthiness of policymakers and the healthcare aspects of operational management before granting authorisation. Insurers are required to submit contract templates for proposed healthcare insurance coverage to the NZa in accordance with Section 25(2) of the Zvw.
