The Bank of Portugal amends Instruction No. 8/2018 to allow individuals to associate their Tax Identification Number (NIF) as a user identifier for the SPIN service, in addition to mobile numbers. This change permits a single individual to receive transfers via SPIN on two separate accounts simultaneously, removing the previous restriction that limited each user identifier to one account. Payment service providers must enable the association and consultation of these identifiers through remote electronic channels and ensure that mobile numbers are registered and certified for strong customer authentication. These provisions apply from 2 June 2025.
