INSTRUCTION N°26 ON THE STANDARDIZATION OF THE BILL OF EXCHANGE
Instruction No. 26 establishes technical and physical standards for bills of exchange to enable automated processing within the clearing system, applying to credit institutions and other clearing participants. It mandates specific paper specifications, including dimensions of 80 mm by 175 mm, weight, and opacity, as well as predefined printed fields for payment mandates, amounts, and signatures. The instruction prohibits metal attachments and folded storage, requiring compliance within six months of signature, after which non-conforming bills are excluded from clearing.
