Rule · CBJ · 31 Dec 2024
The Central Bank of Jordan issues Instructions No. 29 of 2024, effective December 26, 2024, requiring insurance companies to calculate underwriting liabilities in accordance with IFRS 17 and specific actuarial standards. The rules mandate minimum portfolio aggregation levels, define measurement approaches including the Variable Fee Approach and Premium Allocation Approach, and establish detailed cash flow estimation parameters such as a maximum liquidity adjustment of 2%. Additionally, insurers must recognize expected credit losses at 100% for debts overdue by 360 days or those of insolvent entities, apply specific provisioning for subrogation recoveries, and align Takaful operations with Shariah principles. These instructions repeal previous guidelines (No. 1 of 2024) and require compliance for the 2024 financial statements.
