The Central Bank of Jordan raised the minimum paid-up capital for Jordanian banks to 100 million JD and for branches of foreign banks to 50 million JD. Banks with capital below these limits were required to submit a capital raising mechanism by the end of the first quarter of 2011 and achieve the minimum threshold by the end of 2011. Additionally, banks were mandated to maintain a minimum leverage ratio of 6% and a capital adequacy ratio not less than the Central Bank's determined limit.
