Instructions on the Acquisitions of Real Estates by Banks

The Central Bank of Jordan mandates that banks may acquire real estate for operational needs or debt repayment without prior approval, subject to monthly reporting of specific transaction details. Banks are prohibited from leasing such properties unless they obtain pre-written approval from the Central Bank, which requires submission of location, tenant, and rent information. Acquisitions made as debt repayment must be completed within two years, with a possible extension of up to two additional years upon application. These rules replace Circulars No. 2077/7020 and No. 29079/7020.
