The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina mandates commercial banks to exchange worn and damaged banknotes and coins issued by the Central Bank. Full value exchange is granted for worn banknotes unfit for circulation, damaged banknotes with less than 40% damage containing a serial number, or fragments comprising at least 60% of the surface with a serial number, as well as damaged coins that remain legible, shaped, and unperforated. The Central Bank determines the compensation for this service, and this instruction repeals the previous directive from 2002.
