Rule · CBJ · 24 Jun 2004
The Central Bank of Jordan establishes the general bases for the external presence of Jordanian banks, defining permissible forms such as branches, subsidiary institutions, and representative offices. Banks must have operated in the Kingdom for at least five years and maintain a minimum CAMEL rating of 2 for capital and management to qualify. The regulations require a written policy for external operations, an economic feasibility study, and strict reporting of unusual losses and audit results to the Central Bank. These instructions repeal previous memorandum No. (93/249) and take effect from their date of issuance.
