Internal Controls, Compliance and Internal Audit Regulation 161/2018

Banks must establish independent compliance and internal audit functions, with compensation determined independently of bank performance. The Board and Senior Management must ensure adequate internal control frameworks and risk management. Heads of these functions must report violations to the Central Bank and notify it of resignations. This regulation replaces Article A3 of Central Bank Circular No 23/00 dated 22 July 2000 and takes effect one month after publication in the Official Gazette.
