Interpretation Note 1 for the Fast Payments Directive 1 of 2024
The Central Bank of Eswatini issued this note to clarify the mandatory routing of domestic Off-Us transactions up to E50,000 through the Eswatini Payment Switch (EPS). It requires all licensed Payment Service Providers to achieve EPS certification by 19 November 2024 and specifies that Person-to-Person transactions under the threshold must be routed through the network while other retail transactions remain discretionary. These clarified provisions apply to both certified banks and non-banks, taking full effect for participants on 19 August 2024.
