Joint Communication 6 of 2024: Financial institutions' preparations towards the transition from JIBAR to ZARONIA

Each financial institution must plan appropriately and ensure relevant business units execute, proportionate to its use of JIBAR and JIBAR-referencing instruments. Board-approved plans and assessments must cover an appropriately wide range of scenarios, including identifying JIBAR-related exposure, establishing an enterprise-wide transition programme, quantifying, monitoring and reporting exposures, developing a ZARONIA-based product strategy, addressing technological, process and skills changes, determining accounting and taxation impacts, planning fallbacks in financial contracts, developing a communications strategy, and establishing a senior-executive governance framework. The SARB will communicate the JIBAR discontinuation date in due course.
