Letter to industry regarding implementation date of 1 July 2007 set for Consumer Protection Code 2006 dated 27 April 2007

The Financial Regulator issues a directive establishing 1 July 2007 as the mandatory implementation date for all remaining provisions of the Consumer Protection Code 2006. This announcement follows a period of industry engagement and clarifies that the Regulator will exercise particular cognizance regarding technical difficulties during the initial six-month post-implementation period. The letter also notes that the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive will take effect on 1 November 2007 and that new Non-Life Insurance Renewal Notice Regulations will commence on 1 July 2007.
