Maintenance of books of accounts and other documents sought by Enforcement Agencies from Depositories and DPs

Managing Directors of NSDL and CDSL must preserve original electronic and physical documents seized by CBI, Police, or other enforcement agencies until trial completion, overriding the D&P Regulations, 1996 five-year rule. They must immediately amend bye-laws, notify Depository Participants, and publish the circular on their websites. Additionally, they must report implementation status to SEBI in Section III Item No. E of the Monthly Development Report for September 2005.
