The minimum Paid-up Capital and Reserve Fund for banking companies is set at Taka 400 crores, with Paid-up Capital required to be not less than Taka 200 crore. All banking companies must meet this requirement within three years from the notification date of 12 August 2008, by 11 August 2011. Banks failing to meet the capital shortfall are prohibited from paying or declaring cash dividends, while foreign banks must address shortfalls by retaining profits or bringing in additional capital from abroad.
