Minutes of the Financial Stability Committee Meeting of 23-24 March 2026

The Financial Stability Committee reviewed developments in the Icelandic economy, financial stability risks, and the impact of the Persian Gulf war on financial markets. The Committee focused on the real estate market, including residential housing and construction, following amendments to borrower-based measures after Supreme Court judgments in late 2025, and discussed a new housing affordability indicator. Additionally, the Committee examined pension fund investment strategies, private sector indebtedness, bank resilience under the EU’s third Capital Requirements Regulation, financial market infrastructure resilience, and the framework for deposit insurance in Iceland.
