The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan approved the proposal to establish the Bank-Finance Academy, tasked with training high-level specialists in monetary policy, financial management, investment projects, international markets, and banking audit, as well as conducting fundamental research. The Academy is to be funded equally by the Republic budget and the Association of Banks of Uzbekistan, and is exempt from all taxes for its first three years. The Central Bank and the National Bank for Foreign Economic Activities are directed to assist in organizing education and research, including by engaging international experts, with the first student intake scheduled for the 1996-1997 academic year.
