Regulatory Reporting Requirements for Insurance Companies in Trinidad and Tobago

The Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago mandates that insurers submit audited financial statements and annual returns compliant with IFRS 17 for reporting periods ending on or after December 31, 2023. The Bank has issued updated Annual Returns (version 3.0) and instructions, requiring the use of IFRS 17 for liability valuation and prohibiting the Caribbean Policy Premium Method for long-term insurance business. Insurers are required to submit these documents in hardcopy and electronic form no later than June 30, 2024, with specific new and deleted forms detailed in the accompanying addendum.
