Reserve Bank of India (Local Area Banks – Governance) Amendment Directions, 2026
The Amendment Directions delete paragraphs 15, 20, and 21 of the Reserve Bank of India (Local Area Banks – Governance) Directions, 2025, and amend the title of Chapter V to 'Matters to be placed before the Board'. New paragraphs 21A and 21B establish that policies and other matters to be placed before the Board are specified in Appendices I, II A, and II B, while introducing key principles for Board responsibilities, agenda setting, information requirements, and periodic reviews. These modifications apply to Local Area Banks and come into force on October 01, 2026.
