Reserve Bank of India (Rural Co-operative Banks - Prudential Norms on Capital Adequacy) Amendment Directions, 2026

These Directions amend the Reserve Bank of India (Rural Co-operative Banks - Prudential Norms on Capital Adequacy) Directions, 2025 by substituting Sr. No. V in the Table under paragraph 17(1) and inserting a new paragraph 17(4). The amendment specifies that risk weights on net open position from foreign exchange positions apply only to Rural Co-operative Banks which are Authorised Dealers, while other Rural Co-operative Banks calculate risk weights considering only net open position from gold. A new paragraph 17(4) establishes the scope, exclusions, and calculation methods for Net Open Position for Foreign Exchange Risk, requiring Rural Co-operative Banks to meet capital requirements on a continuous basis at the close of each business day. These Directions come into effect from April 1, 2027.
