Resolution 031/2009 Approving the New Foreign Exchange Operations Regulation

The Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Bolivia approves the new Foreign Exchange Operations Regulation, effective April 6, 2009, while repealing previous resolutions from 2002, 2005, and 2008. The regulation establishes the official exchange rate mechanism via the Bolsín competitive auction system and sets specific exchange rate margins for financial entities: a maximum selling rate one centavo above the official rate and a minimum buying rate one centavo below it. Non-compliance with these exchange rate limits results in escalating suspensions from foreign exchange operations, ranging from 15 to 60 calendar days depending on the number of violations.
