RESOLUTION NO. 3,188
Authorizes cooperative banks to receive rural savings deposits, alters the minimum percentage of application of resources captured in rural savings deposits, and increases the exigibility resources of rural savings of Banco do Brasil S.A.
THE CENTRAL BANK OF BRAZIL, in accordance with Art. 9 of Law 4,595 of December 31, 1964, makes public that the MONETARY NATIONAL COUNCIL, in a session held on March 29, 2004, considering the provisions of Art. 4, item VI, of the aforementioned law, Arts. 4 and 15, item I, letter "l", of Law 4,829 of November 5, 1965, and Arts. 81, item III, and 87, § 1, of Law 8,171 of January 17, 1991,
RESOLVES:
Art. 1. Authorize cooperative banks, as referred to in Resolution 2,788 of November 30, 2000, to receive rural savings deposits, in accordance with Resolution 3,103 of June 25, 2003, with the modifications introduced by Resolution 3,145 of November 27, 2003, and by this resolution.
Sole Paragraph. The hiring of correspondents by cooperative banks for the purpose of capturing rural savings deposits is limited to rural credit cooperatives and those with free admission of members.
Art. 2. The minimum percentage of application of resources captured in rural savings deposits, as referred to in Art. 1, item II, and Art. 2, main text, of Resolution 3,103 of 2003, with the modification introduced by Resolution 3,145 of 2003, shall be 65% (sixty-five percent), effective as of September 1, 2004.
Sole Paragraph. For institutions that, on the date of publication of this resolution, were already authorized to capture rural savings deposits, the percentage referred to in this article shall follow the following schedule:
I - 50% (fifty percent), effective as of September 1, 2004; II - 55% (fifty-five percent), effective as of September 1, 2005; III - 60% (sixty percent), effective as of September 1, 2006; IV - 65% (sixty-five percent), effective as of September 1, 2007.
Art. 3. Cooperative banks must comply with the application exigibility referred to in Resolution 3,103 of 2003, with the modification introduced by Art. 2, main text, of this resolution, after completing six months of capturing rural savings deposits.
Art. 4. The exigibility resources of rural savings of Banco do Brasil S.A., as referred to in Art. 2, § 2, items I and II, of Resolution 3,103 of 2003, with the modifications introduced by Resolution 3,145 of 2003, are increased from R$4,500,000,000.00 (four billion and five hundred million reais) to R$5,000,000,000.00 (five billion reais) and from R$500,000,000.00 (five hundred million reais) to R$665,000,000.00 (six hundred and sixty-five million reais).
Art. 5. Consequently to the provisions of Art. 4, Art. 2 of Resolution 3,103 of 2003, with the modification introduced by Resolution 3,145 of 2003, is amended, which shall now read as follows:
