Rule · BCB · 25 Aug 1999 · Resolução CMN 2640
Multiple banks with a commercial portfolio, commercial banks and the Federal Savings Bank may contract correspondent companies; contracting for items I and II requires prior Central Bank of Brazil authorization, otherwise communication. Such services may only run in municipalities without a bank branch, PAB or PAA, and must cease within 180 days if one opens. Contracts must make the contracting institution fully liable and bar subcontracting, advances, payment instruments and charging. Contracted companies face art. 44, paragraph 7 penalties for exclusive financial-institution operations. Effective on publication; Resolution No. 2,166 and Circular No. 220 revoked.
