Review of the FCA's appropriate qualification exam standards

The Financial Conduct Authority finalizes updated appropriate examination standards (AES) for appropriate qualifications listed in the Training and Competence sourcebook and introduces new guidance in TC Appendix 4.1.1 to clarify the use of appropriate qualification tables. The regulator reduces the number of 'regulation and ethics' AES from three to two, withdrawing ApEx8 and retaining ApEx 24 for RDR level four qualifications and ApEx1 for other level three requirements. The FCA decides not to introduce an additional equity release qualification, maintaining the current structure.
