Banks operating in the Arab Republic of Egypt must develop and have approved by their board of directors a code of conduct for banking work that includes minimum basic principles for employees and senior officials. The instructions require banks to inform staff, obtain signed pledges of compliance, and provide specialized training programs to ensure adherence to the rules. Senior officials must be notified immediately by banks if they violate these instructions to assess their continued competence and technical eligibility. The code mandates adherence to principles such as honesty, integrity, confidentiality, and the prohibition of fraud, money laundering, and unethical practices.
