This section describes the procedure for recording the positions arising from certain types of financial instruments in Annex No. ES-19A1. It must be determined whether each of these positions is long or short, in accordance with the position assumed with respect to the respective underlying asset. For the purposes of this annex, the recording of currency positions must be expressed in nuevos soles, using for that purpose the accounting exchange rate corresponding to the date of the annex. In the case of currency options, the Superintendency shall determine by Circular the methodology for including them in the calculation of the exchange risk measurement indicator.
a) Currency forwards and futures: They must be treated as two positions, one in the currency received (long position) and another in the currency delivered (short position), for an amount equivalent to the accounting balance.
b) Currency swaps: They must be treated as two positions, one in the currency received (long position) and another in the currency delivered (short position), for an amount equivalent to the accounting balance.
For the calculation of positions in foreign currency, the following procedure must be applied:
a) In column (1), the balance exchange position in foreign currency must be recorded, which is defined as the difference between total assets and total liabilities, for each of the currencies. The results must be recorded with the corresponding sign (+ or -). Previously, total assets must be recorded in column (a), and total liabilities in column (b). Liabilities must be recorded with a negative sign (-).
b) The amount in column (2) must be equal to the sum of the accounting balances of the long positions in forwards, for each of the currencies.
c) The amount in column (3) must be equal to the sum of the accounting balances of the short positions in forwards, for each of the currencies. The results must be recorded with a negative sign (-).
d) The amount in column (4) must be equal to the sum of the accounting balances of the long positions in futures, swaps and other financial derivative products of currencies, for each of the currencies.
e) The amount in column (5) must be equal to the sum of the accounting balances of the short positions in futures, swaps and other financial derivative products of currencies, for each of the currencies. The results must be recorded with a negative sign (-).
[1] Annex numbering amended by SBS Resolution No. 2842-2012 of 11-05-2012.
f) In column (6), the net position in financial derivative products must be recorded, which will be equal to the difference between the sum of the long positions and the sum of the short positions in said products. The results must be recorded with the corresponding sign (+ or -).
g) In column (7), the global position for each currency must be recorded, which will be equal to the sum of the balance exchange position (column 1) and the net position in financial derivative products (column 6). The results must be recorded with the corresponding sign (+ or -).
h) Next, the aggregate global position in currencies must be calculated. This position is defined as the maximum between the absolute value of the sum of the long global positions and the absolute value of the sum of the short global positions. The result must be recorded in cell A.
Max(PLi , PCi)
a) Factors of 4.0%, 5.9% and 20.0% shall be applied to the aggregate global position in currencies, to obtain exchange risk measurements for horizons of 10 days, one month and one year, respectively. The results must be recorded in cells B, C and D, as applicable.
b) Finally, the results obtained in the previous step must be expressed as a percentage of 35% of the solvency equity.
