The Securities Commission of The Bahamas informs licensees and registrants that the Financial Action Task Force has updated its list of jurisdictions under increased monitoring, adding Algeria, Angola, Bolivia, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti, Kenya, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Lebanon, Monaco, Namibia, Nepal, South Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, Vietnam, Virgin Islands (UK), and Yemen, while removing Burkina Faso, Mozambique, Nigeria, and South Africa. Reporting for Bolivia, Haiti, Lebanon, the Virgin Islands (UK), and Yemen has been deferred, meaning previous FATF statements for these jurisdictions remain in effect but may not reflect current AML/CFT status. Licensees and registrants are encouraged to incorporate the money laundering, terrorist financing, and proliferation financing risks associated with these identified jurisdictions into their business relationship and transaction risk assessments, even though the FATF does not mandate enhanced due diligence measures.
