SGDB N° 015/2015 - Modification to the Legal Reserve Regulation

The Central Bank of Bolivia modifies Articles 5, 6, and 17 of the Legal Reserve Regulation to adjust reserve requirements for financial intermediation entities. Article 5 establishes a phased increase in legal reserve rates for national currency (MN and MNUFV) liabilities, rising from 4% to 6% for cash and 8% to 6% for securities between May and July 2015, while maintaining rates for foreign currency. Article 6 updates compensation tables for cooperatives and mutuals, linking reserve deductions to portfolio growth increments with specific effective dates and rates, and clarifies base dates for new entities. Article 17 increases the allowable percentage of national currency legal reserves held in custody from 5% to 50%.
