Single licence for insurers

Insurers must comply with statutory requirements under the Financial Supervision Act (Wft) regarding trustworthiness, expertise, sound operations, outsourcing, legal form, control structure, minimum regulatory own funds, adequate solvency, and technical provisions. These obligations, elaborated in secondary legislation, are designed to promote insurer solidity and protect interested parties from solvency or liquidity risks. De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) supervises compliance with these requirements, which are largely derived from international harmonization and EU directives, with specific solvency calculation rules applying to health insurers under the Health Insurance Act.
