Standards for Capital Adequacy of Banks in the UAE

Licensed banks must maintain a minimum capital adequacy ratio of 10.5%, a leverage ratio of at least 3.0% (3.5% for D-SIBs), and CET1 of 7.0%. D-SIBs must hold additional CET1 buffers. Banks must report capital positions to the Central Bank, submit existing Basel reports, and undergo annual internal and triennial external independent reviews. Capital shortfalls in subsidiaries must be fully deducted from CET1, and intangibles and certain deferred tax assets are also deducted.
