The Committee of Standards of the Central Reserve Bank of El Salvador issues technical standards establishing uniform accounting registration and valuation practices for extraordinary assets acquired by insurance companies. The document mandates specific accounting entries for assets obtained via dation in payment, judicial adjudication, or purchase, requiring valuation at market value when lower than acquisition cost and prohibiting profit recognition on such acquisitions. Entities must constitute provisions for assets retained beyond the statutory two-year liquidation period and maintain auxiliary records according to Annex No. 1. These norms repeal previous accounting norms and enter into force on July 15, 2026.
