LAW AMENDING THE LEASING LAWS OF 2016 AND 2020

The House of Representatives enacts as follows:

Short title.

  1. This Law shall be cited as the Leasing (Amending) Law of 2026 and shall be read together with the Leasing Laws of 2016 and 2020 (hereinafter referred to as "the principal Law") and the principal Law and this Law shall be referred to together as the Leasing Laws of 2016 to 2026.

Amendment of Article 2 of the principal Law.

  1. Article 2 of the principal Law is amended by the addition, in the appropriate alphabetical order, of the following new term and its definition:

Amendment of Article 15 of the principal Law.

  1. Article 15 of the principal Law is amended by deleting in paragraph (5) the phrase “and, in any case, the decision is issued within one year from the date of receipt of the application” (fourth to sixth line).

Amendment of the principal Law by the addition of new Article 22A.

  1. The principal Law is amended by the addition immediately after Article 22 of the following new Article:

“Licensing fees.
22A.-(1) The Central Bank may require legal persons, which submit an application for the securing of a license for the operation of a leasing company, to pay to it the expenses related to the examination of their application. (2) The Central Bank may issue instructions under the provisions of this Law for the determination and payment of the aforementioned expenses.”.

Amendment of the principal Law by the addition of new Article 45A.

  1. The principal Law is amended by the addition immediately after Article 45 of the following new Article:

“Exchange of information with the Artemis data exchange mechanism.
45A.-(1) Leasing service providers submit data to the Artemis data exchange mechanism and have the right to access it. (2) Without prejudice to the provisions of this Law, leasing service providers comply with the provisions of the Credit Institutions Laws and the instructions issued thereunder, regarding the submission of data to the Artemis data exchange mechanism and access to it.”.
