Financial Institutions (Deposit Protection Fund) Regulations, 2019

Issued by the Deposit Protection Fund Board in consultation with Uganda’s Minister of Finance, these regulations establish the governance and operational framework for the national Deposit Protection Fund. They mandate financial institutions to pay premiums, define the Board’s and Chief Executive Officer’s administrative duties, and outline procedures for determining, lodging, and paying protected deposits upon an institution's closure. The regulations further specify eligible investment instruments, information-sharing requirements with the Central Bank, and penalties for non-compliance to ensure timely payouts and fund stability.
