Liquidity Adequacy Requirements (2026) Chapter 6 – Liquidity Monitoring Tools

The Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) establishes a suite of supervisory liquidity monitoring metrics for domestic systemically important banks and Category I and II institutions. The guideline requires regulated entities to report data on contractual maturity mismatches, funding concentrations, unencumbered assets, currency-specific liquidity coverage ratios, market indicators, and a Liquidity Activity Monitor. OSFI will utilize these metrics to identify deteriorating liquidity positions, set targeted supervisory requirements, and take corrective actions when negative trends or structural vulnerabilities emerge.
