2016 New Zealand Financial Sector Assessment Programme

The International Monetary Fund conducted a 2016 Financial Sector Assessment Programme to evaluate the resilience and regulatory framework of New Zealand's financial system. The review found the banking sector resilient but recommended enhancing supervisory intensity for banks and insurers and strengthening macroprudential policy tools. New Zealand authorities are incorporating these findings into ongoing policy developments to improve legislation for regulating banks, insurers, and financial market infrastructures.
