The Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago enacted the Counter-Proliferation Financing Act, 2025 to implement Financial Action Task Force recommendations and amend the Economic Sanctions Act. The legislation mandates financial institutions and listed businesses to immediately report and freeze assets associated with proliferation financing, maintain robust compliance programmes, and submit suspicious activity reports to the Financial Intelligence Unit. Supervisory Authorities are empowered to monitor compliance, conduct inspections, and impose administrative fines or criminal penalties for violations of the Act's provisions.
