ASEAN Green Bond Standards 2018
The ASEAN Capital Markets Forum issued the 2018 ASEAN Green Bond Standards to establish uniform criteria for green bonds within the region, aligning with the International Capital Market Association’s Green Bond Principles. The standards mandate that issuers ensure proceeds finance eligible environmental projects while explicitly excluding fossil fuel power generation to prevent greenwashing. Issuers must demonstrate compliance through transparent reporting on project selection, proceeds management, and environmental impact, supported by voluntary external reviews.
