The Account-to-Account Payments Roundtable, comprising the Reserve Bank of Australia, Commonwealth Treasury, AusPayNet, and AP+, has released a long-term vision for Australia’s A2A payments system. The document establishes five core outcomes—safety, reliability, affordability, ease of use, and inclusivity—supported by six system characteristics including security, resilience, and commercial viability. Following public consultation, the Roundtable will now develop a detailed roadmap to define implementation timelines, governance arrangements, and deliverables for modernizing the national payments infrastructure.
