SEBI Policy for Sharing Market Data for Research and Analysis

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) mandates that Stock Exchanges, Depositories, and Clearing Corporations establish a uniform policy for sharing anonymized market data exclusively with accredited academic institutions for research purposes. These entities must segregate available data into two distinct categories: a public basket containing aggregate and non-sensitive information, and a restricted basket excluding personal identifiable information and confidential records. Market intermediaries are required to submit their categorized data lists to SEBI for approval within 60 days and implement the necessary data request procedures immediately.
