Aadhaar Letter as Proof of Address for Know Your Client (KYC) norms

The Aadhaar Letter issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India is now admissible as Proof of Address for Know Your Client (KYC) requirements, in addition to its existing recognition as Proof of Identity. This authorization applies to SEBI Registered Intermediaries, including KYC Registration Agencies, Stock Brokers, Depository Participants, Mutual Funds, Portfolio Managers, Alternative Investment Funds, and Collective Investment Schemes. The directive partially modifies previous circulars by correcting specific dates: point 9.d of SEBI Circular No. CIR/MIRSD/16/2011 is updated to read 'January 31, 2000' instead of 'January 3, 2000', and point 4 of SEBI Circular No. MIRSD/Cir-26/2011 is updated to read 'February 1, 2012' instead of 'February 1, 2011'. These changes are implemented under the powers conferred by Section 11(1) of the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992.
