The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission establishes rules for the acquisition of substantial shareholdings (10% or more) and takeovers, requiring mandatory declarations via stock brokers for transactions on exchange, negotiated deals, or off-exchange trades. The rules outline specific procedures for the acquisition of financially weak companies, including the role of lead institutions, rehabilitation packages, and governance requirements. It repeals the 2002 rules and defines penalties for non-compliance.
