The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission establishes the regulatory framework for market makers, requiring a minimum paid-up capital of 10 crore BDT and a net worth equal to at least 75% of that capital. Market makers must provide continuous two-way quotes with a maximum spread of 5%, limit short selling to 30% of own-account sales, and restrict their own portfolio investment to five times their net worth. The rules also govern the appointment of designated clients, mandate strict record-keeping for seven years, and require daily reporting of trading activities to the exchange.
