The Bank of Korea governs deposit and loan handling for financial institutions, repealing prior 1980s regulations. Institutions must conclude deposit and loan agreements based on office jurisdiction and terminate them upon withdrawing from the Bank of Korea Financial Network or International Network. They must maintain current account balances to facilitate settlements, deposit funds via banknotes, checks, or transfers, and adhere to specific cutoff times for fund adjustment deposits. The Bank verifies collateral, checks market prices daily, and may dispose of securities via market sales. Non-compliance triggers sanctions including loan recovery, limit reductions, late payment damages, transaction suspensions, or agreement termination, with penalty interest rates applied as notified.
