Base Rate Lowered to 17.00%

The Monetary Policy Committee of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan has lowered its base rate to 17.00% per annum, establishing a +/- 1 percentage point corridor. This decision follows a continued easing of annual inflation to 10.4% in May, a downward revision of the 2026 inflation forecast to 9–11%, and an upward revision of 2026 GDP growth to 4.5–5.5%. The central bank will maintain moderately tight monetary conditions to drive inflation into single digits this year and toward its 5% medium-term target, with future policy adjustments contingent on incoming macroeconomic data.
