BCB RESOLUTION
NO. 3, OF AUGUST 12, 2020
Provides for information and procedures for authorization to install agencies in the Country and for the provision of information on branches of financial institutions and other institutions authorized to operate by the Central Bank of Brazil.
The Collegiate Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Brazil, in a session held on August 6, 2020, based on arts. 9 of Law No. 4,595, of December 31, 1964, and 14 of Resolution No. 4,072, of April 26, 2012,
R E S O L V E:
CHAPTER I
ON THE OBJECT AND SCOPE OF APPLICATION
Art. 1. This Resolution provides for information and procedures for authorization to install agencies in the Country and for the provision of information on branches of financial institutions and other institutions authorized to operate by the Central Bank of Brazil.
CHAPTER II
ON INFORMATION AND PROCEDURES FOR AUTHORIZATION TO INSTALL AGENCIES
Art. 2. The request for authorization to install agencies must be submitted to the Central Bank of Brazil by presenting a petition signed by administrators whose representation is recognized by the statutes or by the social contract, as defined by this Autarchy.
Art. 3. Authorization to install agencies is granted for an indefinite period.
Art. 4. A head office or headquarters branch is considered a branch recognized with this nature in the act of authorization for the institution's operation.
CHAPTER III
ON THE PROVISION AND DISCLOSURE OF INFORMATION ON BRANCHES
Art. 5. The institutions mentioned in art. 1 must send updated information to the Central Bank of Brazil regarding the identification and location of their branches. (Amended, effective 5/5/2025, by BCB Resolution No. 466, of 4/30/2025.)

Art. 6. The institutions mentioned in art. 1, excluding credit cooperatives and micro-entrepreneur credit societies, must observe the provisions of art. 5, for the purpose of complying with art. 13 of Resolution No. 4,072, of 2012, which deals with the disclosure of information on the internet.
Sole Paragraph. The exception provided for in the main text does not apply to credit cooperatives with free admission of associates.
CHAPTER IV
FINAL PROVISIONS
Art. 7. The following provisions of Circular No. 2,501, of October 26, 1994, are revoked:
I - effective September 1, 2020:
a) art. 1; and
b) art. 3; and
II - effective March 1, 2021:
a) art. 2; and
b) arts 4 to 20.
Art. 8. This Resolution enters into force:
I - on March 1, 2021, regarding arts. 5 to 7, item II, letters “a” and “b”; and
II - on September 1, 2020, regarding the other provisions.
