BCRP Study Notes: Liquidity and Credit - April 2026

The Central Reserve Bank of Peru reports that private sector credit growth accelerated to 8.7% year-over-year in April 2026, driven by robust increases in corporate and household lending across both local and foreign currencies. Private sector liquidity contracted by 0.4% monthly but expanded 16.6% annually, with foreign currency deposits offsetting declines in sight and time deposits. Additionally, financial savings grew 2.0% monthly, while the dollarization coefficient for credit remained stable at 22.0% and banking external liabilities decreased relative to total credit.
