Temporary Closure of Branches and Revision of Operating Hours in View of the COVID-19 Pandemic
The Bank of Zambia mandates revised minimum operating hours and grants exceptional approvals for the temporary closure of high-risk branches by Financial Service Providers to mitigate COVID-19 transmission risks. Under the revised framework, branches must operate from 08:15 to 14:30 on weekdays and 08:30 to 12:00 on weekends, while any modifications to existing schedules require prior regulatory approval. Providers maintaining normal hours are encouraged to continue operations provided they implement adequate social distancing and hygiene measures to prevent overcrowding.
