The Connecticut Department of Banking approved The Simsbury Bank & Trust Company, Inc. to establish a loan production office in Mansfield, Massachusetts. The Commissioner issued enforcement actions against Evans Law Associates, P.C., Carson Smithfield, LLC, AmeriTrust Law Group LLC, Home Loan Division, Serrano Financial LLC, and Kelvin Pickering for violations of the Connecticut General Statutes. Carson Smithfield paid a $2,500 civil penalty for inaccurate license disclosures, while AmeriTrust and the Home Loan entities each paid $100,000 penalties for unlicensed debt negotiation activities. These orders include cease and desist directives and permanent restitution orders effective in March 2015.
